Do you proofread manually?

Yes, spellcheck tools will often miss errors which a seasoned proofreader is hardwired to spot.

Do you write original content?

No, I make revisions to, and recommend, enhancements to your existing content. If you have a specific request, please feel free to ask.

What do I need to provide to get started?

You will need to provide a brief and an outline of your expectations, a word count and timescales for delivery.

What output will I receive when the work is completed?

You will receive a Microsoft Word document with tracked changes, so you can review the corrections, as well as a clean version, with revisions accepted.

Do you proof formats other than Microsoft Word?

Yes, I can also proof PowerPoint documents and PDF files.

Do you annotate PDFs?

Yes, I can annotate PDF documents for Studio teams to action.

Do you format documents?

If during the proofing process, I can quickly correct simple formatting errors I am happy to do so (e.g. removing double-spaces and line breaks etc.). If not, I will highlight any errors for the author to correct.

Do you check facts?

No, I work on the premise that all information supplied is correct and verified by the author.

Can you proof American English, as well as UK English?

Yes, I can proof and edit both.

Does it matter if English isn’t my first language?

So long as you advise at the outset, this is not an issue. However, it is likely to take longer to proof and may require additional conversations with the author to ensure the original meaning is maintained.

Will my documents be kept safe and confidential??

Your confidentiality is top priority and maintained at all times, neither documents or content are shared with any external parties, including potential competitors. For sensitive or highly confidential work, I am happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
